Buckinghamshire Council has pledged to support this year’s Great British September Clean, a campaign run by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy.
The campaign, usually known as the Great British Spring Clean, was postponed in March due to Coronavirus and has been rescheduled for 11-27 September 2020. Over 600,000 people countrywide have promised to give up their time and take action to clean up Britain’s streets, parks and beaches.
On Wednesday 22nd July Shona Hadwen, Clerk to the Hughenden Parish Council will be leaving us to return to Scotland.
Shona has been a great support locally, and to the Hughenden Valley Residents Association in particular, regularly forwarding important relevant information.
She will be missed by many of us.
On Wednesday Shona will be handing over to the new Clerk, Melanie Woof, who has worked as Deputy Chair Officer for BALC, which Parish Councils refer to for directives. She has also been a Chair of a Parish Council and will start here immediately.
We would like to wish Shona a happy future in the Isles of Scotland. Our loss is their gain.
Melanie, despite her valuable experience will find it a challenge to arrive during our down time of Covid-19, as well as liaison with the new Buckinghamshire Council, the gradually fading District Council and changes to CAPS.
Welcome and good Luck.
Angus and Janet (Co-chairs, Hughenden Valley Residents Association)
Latest news from the shop.
“We have now progressed to ‘Transition 2’ as part of a measured easing of the lockdown restrictions. This means that your new ‘outside café’ is now fully open, Monday to Saturday 9.00am – 5pm (Hot food from 10am).
There are lots of extra (socially distanced) tables and new chairs along with some areas of shelter from the sun and rain.”

Information Concerning Playground Re-opening during Covid-19
The Government has advised that playgrounds may re-open from 4th July 2020 if it is safe to do so. Before a playground may re-open, measures need to be put in place to maintain social distancing around and within the play area and to ensure that play equipment is cleaned at frequent intervals. The hall committee is working to develop a system that will enable the playground to re-open safely.
An update will be posted as soon as a date for the safe re-opening has been confirmed.
Thank you for your cooperation

With the reopening of the remaining four of Buckinghamshire’s household recycling centres on May 29 using local traffic control schemes to manage any queuing, the full recycling centre network has now been running for over a week and has settled into its ‘new normal’ mode of operating.
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) for 2020 will be held as soon as is practicable under Covid-19 lockdown regulations.
The position of Chair has been held jointly by Angus & Janet Idle for the past six years and they have now decided to step down for a well-earned rest.
Consequently, we are looking for a new Chair or joint Chairs who can inspire us with good leadership qualities and can drive forward the aims and objects of the HVRA.
Nomination papers are available from the Secretary (secretary@hughendenresidents.org), also on the HVRA web page (https://hughendenresidents.org/ ) & published in the Hughenden News.
