Here we are in March 2021 and another wet winter has resulted in the stream running through the village again. No bad thing really and it makes for plenty of nice pictures and enables us to fully appreciate the wonderful countryside Hughenden Valley is situated in. We have also had concerns at the south end of the village of the possibility of sewage spills from householder’s inspection pits, although it hasn’t happened. The sewage system has been full owing to groundwater and surface water ingress and there has been leakage from the inspection hatch in the NT field near the pumping station. Fortunately the leak has been relatively small and hopefully with warmer and drier weather not too far away, the likelihood of further problems will recede.
Don’t forget, if you have a photo which includes the stream, please send it to me and I will add it to the website. Better still, if you are fortunate enough to have the stream in your back garden why not send a picture of it? Email to treasurer@hughendenresidents.org .
