Covid-19 tests – how to arrange a test

Anyone who has coronavirus symptoms (a high temperature; a new, continuous cough; a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste) is now eligible to be tested.

However, tests for essential workers, such as frontline healthcare staff, are being prioritised over tests for the wider public at this time.

To arrange a test, go to www.gov.uk/coronavirus and click on the appropriate link for you within the ‘testing’ section of information. The booking process is slightly different for members of the public to that for essential workers.

Tests must be booked and are not available on a ‘drop-in’ basis. You can also book a test at a different site via the website. Further details of the testing sites will be provided to people when they book their test.

If the mobile testing sites are fully booked then you will be offered testing at the next-closest location.

Dear Resident,

We are starting to move more towards our ‘new normal’ now and I wanted to update you on what this means in Buckinghamshire.

For example, over the coming days, as shops begin to reopen, you’ll see more signage and guidance in our town centres for example; more on that below. There is also information about where to wear face coverings. This is especially important on public transport and our school buses.

It’s a relief to us all to start doing some of the things we haven’t been able to for a long time now, but I do just want to remind everyone that to control the virus we must all keep a safe distance from other people outside our household wherever possible. And never forget the basics – keep washing hands regularly and for at least 20 seconds; alternatively use hand sanitiser when out and about.

National Trust – Reopening update

We’re reopening the places you love, gradually, safely and in line with government advice.

We’ve started opening some gardens and parks in England and Northern Ireland, but through advance bookings only.

We have to limit numbers to make sure that visitors and staff will be safe. These limited advance tickets do go quickly, and many of our most popular places are now fully booked up to 14 June.

But every Friday we release new tickets for the following week, so it’s worth checking back regularly. We’re also opening more gardens and parks every week and increasing the number of tickets available for those places that are already open. 

More than 200 coastal and countryside car parks are also open. For now, all houses remain closed, as do all places in Wales in line with Welsh government advice.

HVRA Annual General Meeting 2020

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) for 2020 will be held as soon as is practicable under Covid-19 lockdown regulations.

The position of Chair has been held jointly by Angus & Janet Idle for the past six years and they have now decided to step down for a well-earned rest.
Consequently, we are looking for a new Chair or joint Chairs who can inspire us with good leadership qualities and can drive forward the aims and objects of the HVRA.
